Lachlan Forrow, MD is a general internist and Director of Ethics and Palliative Care Programs at Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, President of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, and immediate past President of The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship/USA.
Dr. Forrow has been a national leader in efforts to improve care near the end of life, including as a Faculty Scholar for the Project on Death in America. As longtime President of The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, Dr. Forrow led creation of the U.S. Schweitzer Fellows Programs, which support medical and other health professional students in direct service projects in local underserved communities. In 2007 Dr. Forrow was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service from Harvard Medical School.
