Samantha Caccamo is the Founder & CEO of Social Business Earth.
Born in Bologna, Italy, Samantha Caccamo holds a BA in Journalism from Pepperdine University, Los Angeles.
She became interested in social business after meeting Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus and attending some of his lectures in Europe. She then visited Bangladesh several times where she participated in a training program at Grameen Bank. She learned face to face the benefits of social business and microcredit on the ground to empower the poor and build an inclusive system which allows them to create small income generating activities and have a dignified life.
In 2011 after working four years in academia she founded Social Business Earth, the first non-dividend company of social utility based in Lugano, Switzerland, created in partnership with Yunus, who chairs the Advisory Board. The company’s mission is to spread and implement social business in the world, solving some of society’s most urgent social and environmental problems. Ms. Caccamo has 15+ years experience working in the private and social sector and also as a volunteer for several NGOs in developing countries and Europe. She is a leader and visionary in advancing the social business model globally. She is an advocate of poverty eradication and believes in redesigning a new and inclusive economic system. In her capacity of CEO at SBE, she manages a team of 30+ people to advance the organization’s mission of ending extreme poverty and promoting equal opportunities for all.
