Borned in Olopa, in the south east of Guatemala, Shirley struggled with poor economic conditions in her family, applied for scholarships in order to get into the best private schools in her country.
With a vision in mind of getting the best education for working to improve the life of the less advantage people in the world, she focused her career towards development, trade and micro finance.
Currently, she is working to provide affordable healthcare for low income Grameen Borrowers in NYC. She is also exploring opportunities to improve healthcare in Guatemala and Mexico using technology and smartphones.
